Mmm... Tasty. Right now the only two "Editting" programs I have are Inkscape and paint.net.
Well, three if you count paint. Razz

Not really. And there's lots of tutorials. At first though, the slightly complicated layout may scare you at first, but it's easy to catch on to. Wink

Not at all. It's easy to use, but hard to figure out all the effects, and Paint.net actually has better vectorization.

BTW, I've found that motion blur set to 1 can vectorize very well.

Alright. Open up GIMP at 640x400 pixels. Add a new layer called "planet". Take the largest round paintbrush, increase size to 10 and put it on the layer called "planet". Then Go to Filters>Render>Lava and make the Seed count 26 and the size 20. Apply it. On the red planet layer, Gaussian blur to 20. Right click on any layer, and click at the bottom "Merge all visible layers". Then Click Filters>Light and Shadow>Lens Flare and I prefer 128x128 as its location.

    Here's a quick a tutorial I created for GIMP.

    Mustafar/Lava Planet Tutorial

    Creation Time: 5-10 minutes.
    Final Effect:
    Photography and Editing - Page 11 Pic710

    Step One: Open up GIMP.
    Step Two: File>New>640x400>OK
    Step Three: Layer>New Layer>name it 'planet'>OK
Step Four: Take the largest Round Paintbrush and click the paintbrush tool. Make sure the color is red. Increase the brush size to 10.00.
Step Five: Put a red circle in roughly the center of the picture. Offset it an way you like. I put it more so in the bottom right portion of the screen, but it still looks centered.
    Photography and Editing - Page 11 Pic110
    Step Six: Filters>Blur>Gaussian Blur>20-25
    Photography and Editing - Page 11 Pic210
    Step Seven: Filters>Render>Lava>Seed-26 Size-20 Roughness-15>OK
    Photography and Editing - Page 11 Pic310
    Step Eight: Select>None
Step Nine: Click the Background layer and Bucket fill it with black.
    Photography and Editing - Page 11 Pic410
Step Ten:Right click any layer and select 'Merge all visible layers'>Leave the defaults and click Merge.
    Step Eleven: Filters>Light and Shadow>Lens Flare>X Coordinate:128 &Y Coordinate: 128>OK
    Photography and Editing - Page 11 Pic610
    You're all done!
    Photography and Editing - Page 11 Pic711
