You have to be in a leadership position for six months prior to getting Star, and six months prior to getting Life. So one year before you got Life, you had to have been First Class.
And how did you ever pass your First class Scoutmaster Conference? Did they go easy on you?

I'm not kidding. It took me all of my first year to do tenderfoot-First Class. I got ONE merit badge in that year. I got 4 at summer camp and my troop works on merit badges once a month together as a group, most of them being Eagle required and the others are extremely easy (the not eagle required). I just got Life a week ago.

My dad AND stepdad aren't in Scouts...like at all.
They don't cut corners, I just stick with something until it's done.
Scoutmasters Confrences usually took me most of one meeting.
